Montrose High School is holding parent teacher conferences Tuesday, October 20 and Thursday, October 22. Tuesday’s conferences are to be held from 4:00pm-8:00pm while Thursday’s conferences are to be from 2:00pm-8:00pm.

To sign up for a conference time, a Sign Up Genius link is available on the MHS website (https://mhs.mcsd.org/cms/One.aspx). In-person conferences are available only to cohort A on Tuesday, October 20 and only to cohort B on Thursday, October 22.

“There is a Genius sign-up form and then parents can go online, reserve their place and say how they want their conference to be,” James Barnhill, MHS Principal, said.

If in-person is not an option due to conflicting schedules, quarantine, or remote learning, Zoom and phone call conferences are available to both cohorts on either day.

“This year parents and teachers will be able to meet in person, on Zoom, or over the phone. I think it is important for parents and teachers to make an effort to attend conferences because it gives teachers and families time to collaborate on building an individualized plan for success at school,” Kevin Snyder, teacher at MHS, said.

According to MHS Guidance Counselor Kathleen Pirani, it is very important that parents and teachers come together to discuss their student(s) to allow for open communication and an opportunity to distinguish and overcome any struggles a student may be encountering.

“I think it is very important, especially right now, because school is so weird because of Covid and because of cohorts and because of online learning. I just think that talking together shows teachers that students really do care and that they want to do a good job and it shows students that the teachers care about how they’re doing.”  Pirani said
