Now that all students are back in person full time STUCO is working hard to create events to have more student involvement in school activities.

This coming week March 22-25 there will be a spirit week, starting with ‘Merica Monday, Inside Out Tuesday, Teacher Wednesday, Hawaii Thursday, and Redout Friday.

There will be an Easter basket prize every day for the best dressed. To enter to win these prizes, you have to direct message a picture of your outfit to the mhs_indians Instagram account.

“We had a good student section a few days ago that had a lot of participation in the dress up event so we’re hoping that spirit carries on into spirit week,” said STUCO president Lydia Stryker.

Another upcoming event is a talent show that will be hosted via Instagram, students may send in their submissions. There will be a teacher panel that goes through the submissions, before going out on Instagram for voting between students.

“It Is something so students can display their talents,” Stryker said.

Coming up in the month of April, STUCO hopes to be able host an in-person poker night. The details have yet to be worked out, but will be announced soon. All proceeds from this event will be going towards prom. That’s right, the hope is to have a prom this year.

“We will have first, second, and third prizes, we’re just looking for donations right now because without concessions, we haven’t raised as much money,”  STUCO sponsor Renae Manuel said.

Having this event is still in question but the STUCO members have high hopes of being able to have it.

As for prom and graduation, plans aren’t yet decided. Prom and graduation or on the line depending on where the county is with their guidelines.

“We’re definitely looking into planning but it’s very tentative right now,” Stryker said.
