The Cheer Team is Starting Their Season

   The Montrose High School Cheer Team has been practicing all summer for their season.  The team is not just preparing for sports games, they also plan on going to three competitions this year. 

    “We will be cheering for football, basketball, and wrestling but we support all of our teams,” says Coach Sharon Bacus.

     This year there are two team captains, senior Kendall Noles and junior Monce Alvardo.

    “Being captain feels amazing! I’ve always had that leader mentality so I’m definitely in my element!” Noles said, “It does get hard and stressful but overall it’s an amazing position to have, I love my team.”

One of the competitions they plan on going to is the Grand Junction Cheer Regionals in Grand Junction, Colorado. They also plan on going to the Denver Colorado State Cheer Competition in Denver, Colorado and the Colorado Springs Cheer Competition.

    “Our goals are to be a united team, getting respect from the high school students, and looking awesome at competitions,” Bacus said. You can see them supporting the football team at their home game this Friday.
