Montrose Indians Varsity softball season has been off to a winning start, their first official games were in Durango, where they won one, and lost one. They have played a total of five games this season and their record is 4-1.
Their first home game was against the Delta Panthers, where they won the game 11-1 in the 5th inning because of the ten run rule.
When talking to head Varsity Coach Joe Bollinger, he said the season has started out well with wins, but he feels, “They need to light a fire in their bellies… They need to want to practice hard and get better,” said Bollinger.
“Baeli (Minerich) with her pitching, she’s really put in the effort,” said Bollinger.
Freshman Baeli Minerich is one of the starting pitchers for the team. “I feel like I have been doing pretty good, i just feel like I could improve on my slap hitting,” Minerich said.
Varsity’s next softball game will this Saturday September 4 in Alamosa.
