Montrose boys soccer wins one, loses one

The Montrose Boys Varsity soccer team won their second game of the season on their home field against Delta High School with the final score of 9-0.

In their shutout win against the Panthers, junior Jesus Chavez assisted 4 goals, junior Agustin Montoya-Ornelas and senior Adriel Encarnacion each scored and assisted one, senior Aiden Harrell scored 3 goals, junior Quincy Cooling scored 2 goals, senior Adriel Huizar Martinez, and sophomore Christian Lucero scored one.

“I was very proud of our win against delta and it was a good experience playing on varsity” freshman Tommy Montoya-Ornelas said.

The boys lost their first game of the season against Battle Mountain. The Montrose boys soccer team scored 1 goal and Battle Mountain scored 3.

The boys were very disappointed with their loss and continued to make more improvements that they hope to carry out.The boys still hope to win three back to back league titles and will continue to work hard towards that goal.

“As a team we all understood that the second half of our game we got tired and didn’t play as well, so we all came up with a goal that every single person would play hard and not give up until the final whistle” captain Adriel Encarnacion said.
