The Montrose Indians remain undefeated after beating the top ranked Palmer Ridge Bears (28-21) at their Homecoming on Friday, October 1st and then rolled over the non ranked Heritage Eagles  (56-12) Friday, October 8th.

The Indians have a very solid defense as they have only allowed 6 points in the second half throughout their 7 games.

The Bears were previously the #1 ranked team for class 4A, but The Indians had the edge over the Bears after Ashden Oberg forced a fumble on the Bears first drive in the second half which led to Montrose scoring an 80+ yard drive that took 10+ minutes off the clock. The Bears were not able to score and threw their 2nd interception to Hunter Duke, which would seal the deal for Montrose.

“It was close, but I knew if we kept playing Montrose football we would eventually come back,” junior Jaxxon Tosi said.

After the huge win over Palmer the Indians ran their way to the #1 rank in class 4a.

The Indians beat the Heritage Eagles the following week. Ethan Hartman was the star of the show snagging 2+ interceptions and touchdowns and an onside recovery to top off his performance.

The top tier Indian defense performed as usual only allowing 12 points, but Heritage was the first team to score in the second half against the Indians.

“We just have to keep improving, working together, and be the more physical team every week,” junior Jason English said.

The Indians have a big week ahead of themas they take on #7 ranked Vista Ridge Wolves. Montrose will be playing The Wolves Saturday October 16 at 1:30pm and you can stream the game on NFHS network.
