There were 10 teams who participated in the Cobble Creek Tournament: Grand Junction, Central, Cortez, Fruita, Gunnison, Durango, Rifle, Eagle Valley, Glenwood Springs, and Palisade.
Wednesday, April 6th Dejulio, Amundson, and Bernatis lead the Indians to another 2nd place and ended up beating Durango by 3 strokes at the Black Canyon Golf Course tournament.
As an individual, Dejulio is one of the top golfers on the team and has placed 4th once, 2nd twice, and 1st once. As a team, they’ve placed 1st three times and 2nd once.
“Our season has been going pretty good,” Dejulio said. “I’m looking forward to placing in both Regionals and State as an individual.”
Savannah Piquette, a senior on the girls’ golf team, is proud of her performance this season and has high hopes to compete at State in her final year as a high school golfer. She has been in the top 15 in the last 6 tournaments she got 83 at BookCliff and got 3rd overall on that one. Then at the tournament at Adobe she got 87 and got 2nd place. Montrose took First place and the top three golfers were Gracie, Giada, and Savanah herself.
“This season has been going really well so far!” Piquette said. “I have had some of my best rounds ever in these first couple tournaments, and I hope I will be able to continue to play well and make it to Regionals and State.”
Piquette has a few goals for her golf season this year and thanks her teammates and coach.
“My goal this year is to have fun and play the best I can. So far I have been able to do both because of my amazing teammates and coaches,” Piquette said.
“The girls’ golf team has three tournaments left before Regionals at Cobble Creek and are all shaping up to finish pretty well at those three tournaments.” Coach Herod said
On May 17th, names will be released for those who qualified for regionals which will be played at Cobble Creek on May 23rd at 9am.
