The Montrose Indians Track and Field team has been on fire these past few weeks placing 1st and 2nd twice in three different track meets.

On Saturday April 9th the Indians traveled to Stocker Stadium and competed in the Frank Woodburn Invitational and multiple Indians placed in their events which lead the team to place 2nd out of 17. Junior Rodriguez and Trevor Hill lead the way winning 1st in their events (200 meter) and (Shot Put). The Indians 4×1 team (Amaris Mora, Austin Zimmer, Junior Rodriguez, and Alonzo Leiba) took 1st.

Two weeks later, Friday April 22 the Indians traveled to New Castle where they took 1st out of 21 teams. Montrose had multiple individuals and relays take first place: Amaris Mora (100 meter), Jonas Graff(1600 meter), Trevor Hill(Shot Put), and both the relay teams (4×1,4×8).

Individual Jaxxon Tosi placed started the season strong and consistently placed in the top 3 the first couple of weeks, but has not been competing as competitively in the last 3 weeks only placing in the top 3 a couple of times.

“I haven’t been performing the way I want, these past couple weeks have been slow, but I am looking to keep improving for regionals and make a push for state,” Tosi said.

As a team the Indians have placed very well, placing in the top 3 in all of the meets they have been to.

“We have been doing really good, as a team we keep placing in the top 3-5 and if everyone keeps this up we should have a lot of people going up to state,” Kolton Cohick said.

Montrose has their final track meet Friday April 29th at home where they will be looking to looking to get another 1st place.
