Montrose High School Boys Varsity Basketball team took another victory on Tuesday March, 2nd against Fruita with a total score 57 to 39 and another game on Friday March, 5th against Durango with a total score 61 to 30

Junior Luke Hutto scored 20 points total, Junior Ashden Oberg with 11 points, and Junior Trey Reese with 10 points.

“The season is going well so far. We are currently 13-0 overall,” Coach Ryan Voehringer says.

Even though their season is undefeated, they still find room to improve for each up-coming game. Junior Ashden Oberg has been practicing on his weaker skills.

“I’ve gotten a lot better at posting up and finishing around the rim,” Oberg said

The team is always looking to improve, but some players’ main goal is just to win and go to State. Junior Javier Esparza is there to play and have a good time with his team.

“The main goal is always to win, and we all want to make a good run at state,” Esparza said.

Athletes got the short end of the stick this year, considering the players have to wear a mask during their game. With rules and regulations the team still finds away to make the best of the year.

“We have to wear masks while we are [practicing], we have to socially distance on the sidelines, and we have to bring our own water bottles.” Oberg said.

Playoffs could start as early as Tuesday, March 9th. Standoffs will be determined after this weekend based off of this past week’s games.
