The varsity baseball team has continued to play their way through the season with another 5 wins and 3 losses to add to their roster. They are now ranked 2nd in the 5A/4A Southwestern league with Fruita Monument High school in first and Grand Junction high school in third.

“The season is going good, we are having a lot of fun and I’m glad I’m along for the ride,” starting catcher Gage Wareham said.

On April 14, they had a home game against #3 ranked Grand Junction high school where they won 6-3. Then, the next day, April 15, they played Grand Junction again where they lost 10-12. The team had yet another away game where they played Grand Junction Central where they won 9-3 on April 19. They then played Grand Junction Central yet again at home on April 23, where they won 10-0.

“They were definitely a good challenge. I felt like we should have beat them, twice if we make some routine plays and stay focused for a full game,” said Head Coach Landon Wareham when talking about the team’s games against GJHS.

The team then had a small stretch of away games where they played Durango on April 29th and then 30th. They won both games, the score of the first game being 14-4 then the second game’s score being 7-3. Then on May 3, the team traveled to Fruita and ended up losing 3-5. They then played Fruita yet again at home on May 5th where they lost to them again 4-10.

“I feel like there’s always room for improvement, but we could mostly work on putting together a full game start to finish,” said Wareham.

The team’s senior night is set for Tuesday May 10th against Delta at 4:00. And their last game of the season is set against Palisade in Palisade.
